Tyranid Hierophant by dlshadowwolf Tyranid Hierophant by dlshadowwolf
Finally finished this forge world baby. I've been longing for this model for years and at last I had a reason to buy one! Painted in the blue and orange of my hive fleet phoenix it stands towering over the battle field! No effort was spared. I even traded away an OOP vindicator for a Land Raider missing a few pieces. One hack-saw session later I had the beginnings of an epic base. And it only got better through putting a Hierophant on top of it.

C&C are most welcome! I'm always looking to improve :-)

careful with its legs, they start to bend and warp under its own weight after a while

Thanks for the warning. I've heard about that and don't plan to keep him assembled for too long. A lot of pinning in the claws as well to keep him steady.

wow.. its justs great, with the usual reisn texture(that i love). althought there are 2 problems. first, the land raider is kinda... meh, but i ''uderstand that, as yellow is tough to use.second, while the hierophant is great, the... termagaunt? is... average.you can do better with the termag.also i would suggest that isnstead of drybrushing all of the armour blue, drybrush the edges blue, and then the insife parts with a darker or lighter blue, this will give the impression it ''natural, like some animals have .

Awww, are you dissing my termie :-P He's actually just a test model I tested the scheme on ;-) I agree he's not even the upper middle lower class of my painting. The rest of the guys are packed down so I had nothing to compare size with. I had to choose between him and unpainted fantasy figs ;-)

And I'd love to hear you elaborate on the 'meh'. I tried to achieve the look of it being left immobilized ín the field, not corrore(plasteel doesn't rust...) but stained by perpetual acid rain and general post-exterminatus weather...

hmm.. yeah i see your point on the raider... you could acctually ad a different tone of yello, as discoloration from acids and sun change the colour itself, and thin it down too.anyway, its really well made;)

You could put some really wicked damage on the Landraider if you wanted. Right now it just looks like it's sitting there. Nice paint job on the titan though! How did you do the water? o.o

I kinda like the thought of the Space Marines being forced to abandon the tank even though it's not that badly damaged ;-)
The water is Green ink on a drybrush of astronomicon gray where it is to appear shallow. Then a thick layer of wood glue over that. Looks like crap for a few hours, but when the wood glue clears, it is awesome :-)

Some excellent attention to detail on this! Only way I can see it looking better is if you used that... um... well, I guess drool technique I've seen about!

Well done! =)
